Ark State of the Game and What's to Come

Yesterday afternoon an official post about Ark's status was made on the forums. I will be going over the laymen's in this article, but I urge you to read the post yourself in depth. I will also briefly go over my thoughts, feelings, and theories of these announcements. You can read the full post on the forums here.

Anyway, to begin the retail version of the game is finished. To give you an idea of what this means, the single player version of the game is optimized enough and finished enough to be released on disc. This is the very reason Wildcard has been focusing on single player recently and not multiplayer/dedicated server optimization, it was to make the game sell-able on disc so it wouldn't get rejected. This means now the developers can focus on their multiplayer experience that most players have been longing for. So expect the balancing of boss fights, ddos protection, optimizations, and more balance changes.

Speaking of ddosing... duping! So, will the servers be wiped? No. It seems the developers stuck to their guns and will be releasing a new cluster of servers and the original, or now currents, servers will be renamed "legacy" servers. You can check my opinion and thoughts on a server wipe in my last article here. But this was the only expected option other than wiping the servers upon release, so I'm not entirely surprised. You won't be able to transfer to these new servers from the old ones, so it is a completely new start. You might be asking how they'll have the money to do this? One, Wildcard claims to already have the finances to run them and they will also be taking down underpopulated servers. So expect many hardcore and scorched earth wastelands to be replaced by the new cluster.

Furthermore, Ragnarok on console will be released on August 8th. I kind of expected this after such delays, but it is still something to take in with disappointment. However, Ragnarok is a very buggy map, even on PC, so maybe it is better we get it later.

Speaking of consoles. On release we finally get the long awaited PC ran dedicated servers. This will allow you to run, or even rent, dedicated servers on your PC. For those who spent money on a separate console, you will still be able to run your servers as normal.

Also, in short, the very long delayed PS4 update will come tomorrow, probably late evening and the new dev kit should be released shortly.

But, to end this on a sweet note, Jeremy has stated in the upcoming PC update that the TRUE ascension ending is coming. He released along side this the new EPIC credits theme, which I suggest you check out yourself on Jeremy's Soundcloud. With this, I would also expect the final boss to be released as well, but I for one am very excited for what's to come in these final couple of weeks.

ARK's Console Update Surpise Release

I must say, I feel very conflicted (as many other Xbox One players do) as to the update's "early release" This release has included both PC's 259 and 260 update in one 16  gigabyte package has been delayed many times, but came earlier than expected after said delays and released about 24 hours ago during a 2x Evolution Event. It got many players upset due to many people raising newly hatched babies at the time. However I believe it was sorta worth it. To begin with what I believe is the crown jewel  of this patch: Loot Tables in beacons being refitted THANK THE ARK GODS I've already been adding many new saddle blueprints to my collection, including a new ascendant 88 armor megalania saddle. To say the least I'm so happy my new dinos aren't handicapped by lower end saddles anymore. However.... This update seem to have brought with it a very crippling memory bug in the servers. This causes many to crash multiple times withing minutes. If I got a pe...

ARK's "Big" Fix Update To Include Hundreds of Bug Fixes and Tek Tapejaras?

Just when ARK's next major version update for the PC couldn't any get more mysterious, Jeremy Stieglitz throws us an oddball I don't know about you guys, but I honestly don't think ARK needed many bug fixes okay enough jokes But to be honest, the next major version update for ARK has been oddly mysteriously, usually for most major updates, the patch notes will generally display them neatly on the ARK Forum or ARK Steam Forum a couple weeks ahead of time. But not this time, ARK's next major version update arrives on PC TODAY  with very little information on it other than numerous bug fixes, exploit fixes, and performance enhancements with a few new features such as the long awaited "Crafting Skill System," where presumably one's crafting effectiveness (formally crafting speed, at least this is how most think the system will work) will determine and item's stats. Added on that, Jeremy Stieglitz added this  photo  earlier this morning: Wh...

ARK’s Current PvP Meta: "Tame After Tame"

We all know how ARK has devolved into a slug fest of brute force and mindless PvP sometimes, especially at higher levels of play. With the game's release on August 8th this year (Hopefully), Wildcard needs to evaluate, reconstruct, and refine its PvP  Meta. Read  here  as I go into more detail on ARK's current meta and possibly some fixes. Please post your replies and thoughts on the forum post as to what you think? Do you agree? Or are you attached to hordes of brontos? Or do you just not care as long as your thatch mansion is not involved? Feel free to share your thoughts.
