Yesterday afternoon an official post about Ark's status was made on the forums. I will be going over the laymen's in this article, but I urge you to read the post yourself in depth. To give you an idea of what this means, the single player version of the game is optimized enough and finished enough to be released on disc. This is the very reason Wildcard has been focusing on single player recently and not multiplayer/dedicated server optimization, it was to make the game sell-able on disc so it wouldn't get rejected. This means now the developers can focus on their multiplayer experience that most players have been longing for.
