Ark State of the Game and What's to Come

Yesterday afternoon an official post about Ark's status was made on the forums. I will be going over the laymen's in this article, but I urge you to read the post yourself in depth. I will also briefly go over my thoughts, feelings, and theories of these announcements. You can read the full post on the forums  here . Anyway, to begin the retail version of the game is finished. To give you an idea of what this means, the single player version of the game is optimized enough and finished enough to be released on disc. This is the very reason Wildcard has been focusing on single player recently and not multiplayer/dedicated server optimization, it was to make the game sell-able on disc so it wouldn't get rejected. This means now the developers can focus on their multiplayer experience that most players have been longing for. So expect the balancing of boss fights, ddos protection, optimizations, and more balance changes. Speaking of ddosing... duping! So, will the serve...

To Wipe, or not to Wipe? The Underlying Conflict of Ark's Official Server Network

Are you a level 1 Bob (now Homo-Sapiens) and got your thatch mansion munched on by a dictatorial alpha tribe? Are you a normal server alpha who's server has been S.W.A.R.Med (see what I did there?) by an opposing mega tribe then crushed in the dirt by an armada of beefy brontos and gargantuan gigas? Are you a mega tribe that doesn't put any in-game effort for your tames and items and are at war with other mega tribes with similar qualities other than the difference in your names and how often you hold dick measuring contest? Well, it doesn't matter what background you come from when we face the biggest enemy of us all... A CHAIR . Seriously though, although the chair has been (mostly) patched, duping has been a major issue in Ark for a while. But even saying its a major issue is an understatement, especially within the past month where duping has become extremely trivial to do and even more widespread.  So despite the developers at Wildcard Studios previous...

Ark Ragnarok Console Release and PC 262

It's been no secret Wildcard isn't very consistent on ETAs and release dates. However, their legitimacy has been going consistently downhill within the recent times. To begin, more unfortunate news for console players in that no one will be able to experience the beautiful new free dlc quite yet. At least Jen is being bluntly honest: 0%. — Jen (@bubblywums) July 14, 2017 Personal, this raises concerns on the supposed "official release date" for Ark. Wildcard is already accepting preorders for a game that can't keep ETAs on their major updates consistent. This is no doubt decreasing the legitimacy as Wildcard as a developer. But most of the community managers will tell you that ETAs will especially be off this month because of said preparations of the launch date. In other news. Ark 262 is finally on its last stretch after being delayed twice for PC. The update itself is rather small, despite Jeremy hyping it like crazy (note: don't trust Jeremy). T...

Update 261 Brings the Best and the Downright Worst Changes to Ark

Update 261 has dropped on PC as well as the corresponding Xbox update (PS4 will have to wait unfortunately) and it brings a decent amount of changes, but has been lenient on the quantity of notes this time, but the impact has increased. For one, underwater and cave beacons drop 2 items, however from my testing, deep sea loot crates (at least on the island) drop 4 items . This may be a bug or intended, but grinding for that good loot just got a whole lot easier. Following up on the good changes, Onycs now have a 10% chance to inflict mega rabies. This might not be good for average cave dwelling, but it now gives a purpose to taming them. Now the developers just need to make them breedable. Other changes include the ability to mount torches to saddles, a fix to the console "origami dinos," and a rare mushroom and flower rework. Now to the "questionable" changes: The small one is wyverns now eat "intended" amounts of food. Which I've heard rumors...

ARK's Console Update Surpise Release

I must say, I feel very conflicted (as many other Xbox One players do) as to the update's "early release" This release has included both PC's 259 and 260 update in one 16  gigabyte package has been delayed many times, but came earlier than expected after said delays and released about 24 hours ago during a 2x Evolution Event. It got many players upset due to many people raising newly hatched babies at the time. However I believe it was sorta worth it. To begin with what I believe is the crown jewel  of this patch: Loot Tables in beacons being refitted THANK THE ARK GODS I've already been adding many new saddle blueprints to my collection, including a new ascendant 88 armor megalania saddle. To say the least I'm so happy my new dinos aren't handicapped by lower end saddles anymore. However.... This update seem to have brought with it a very crippling memory bug in the servers. This causes many to crash multiple times withing minutes. If I got a pe...
